About Me

My name is Tyler Stratton. I am a Software Engineer currently living in the greater Seattle area.

Live

I grew up in Ohio, went to Ohio University, studied Japanese language for six months abroad at Chubu University near Nagoya, Japan. After graduating, I managed to land a job in Tokyo. After some amazing years there I moved back to the States and took a year off to relax, travel, and brush up on some German, before moving to Silicon Valley. I lived in Northern California for about 8 years, before getting a bit restless. I wanted a change, so I quit my job and moved to the Pacific Northwest where I currently reside.

Work

I have worked with mobile starting with iMode / C-HTML and WAP web pages, then began writing J2ME apps that were initially limited to 30K in size. As BREW came to Japan, I ported some apps from J2ME (Java) to BREW (C/C++). When I moved back to the states, I took my BREW and J2ME experience to Samsung in Silicon Valley, and developed various mobile technologies there. While at Samsung, iOS and Android came along. Because of Samsung's proximity to Google HQ, I have had exposure to Android development from early on.

I am currently available for work.
